The Patek Philippe Cubitus Perpetual Calendar Skeleton Ref. 5840P 001 is the first Grand Complication introduced in the Cubitus collection. It combines a perpetual calendar with a fully skeletonized design that reveals the movement from both sides. The watch was developed as a unified concept, where the case and movement share the same square shape with rounded edges. This approach highlights the structure of the watch while maintaining clarity and balance. First launched as a sporty and modern line, the Cubitus collection expands here into high complication watchmaking while keeping its distinctive design language.
The watch is powered by the caliber 28 28 Q SQU, a square skeleton movement made up of 313 components. It displays hours, minutes and seconds along with a full perpetual calendar including day, date, month, leap year and moon phases. The calendar mechanism is based on a 48 month cam that completes one rotation every four years, automatically adjusting for months of different lengths. The movement features a monochrome rhodium plated finish with blue accents on selected components. It also introduces a large moon phase display, using a single rotating disc that completes a full cycle every 29.53 days, offering a more detailed representation of the lunar surface.
The case is made of platinum and measures 45mm in diameter with a thickness of 10mm. It features a mix of polished and satin brushed finishes and includes a baguette cut diamond set at 6 o’clock. The openworked dial follows the linear design of the Cubitus collection, with blue treated surfaces and white gold hour markers and hands with luminescent coating. The watch is fitted with a navy composite strap with a textile pattern and secured by a platinum folding clasp.
